War on Drugs

I do not support America's "War on Drugs." If alcoholic beverages and tobacco are going to be legal, there's no excuse for keeping marijuana illegal - especially since it's been proven to have medicinal benefits! The money being spent on ineffective military intervention in this make-believe war could be better spent treating chemical dependency as the medical problem it is. Incarcerating drug offenders instead of providing medical treatment is not solving the problem - it's only expanding the prison system and costing us more in taxes every year. I'm not alone in thinking this way.
